Jan Palka

When his father Zygmunt was arrested in August 1941, he never returned and Jan was left alone.

His section of the diary narrates his escape from the NKVD, reflects on his life in the labour camp and then, in fitful entries including sketches an cartoons, records the steps to his arrival in England, his second homeland where he died in 2008.
